Iris, the goddess of rainbows, appeared here yesterday, her first visit since she was born. The daughter of my daughter May and her husband Seth Bernard, this tiny perfect granddaughter will be spending a couple of days with grandma and grandpa, and her mom, of course.

What can I say? Iris is just so lovely, and this chain of new life links all of us together. Family is so much more than just a word.
